The 9th Annual AIA Archaeology Fair!

9th Annual Archaeology Fair, Philadelphia

Join us for the 9th Annual Archaeology Fair on Saturday, January 10, 2009, at the AIA's Annual Meeting in Philadelphia. The Fair will be held at the Loews Philadelphia Hotel, 1200 Market Street and is FREE to the public and AIA meeting attendees.

The Archaeology Fair — the highlight of AIA's public outreach efforts — is a day-long event that brings together archaeologists, museum specialists, and other experts, from Philadelphia and around the country, to host educational, hands-on programs for visitors to enjoy. The family-friendly event will feature activities and demonstrations for children of all ages, including Roman tile-painting, making mosaics, writing in ancient languages, raising obelisks, learning about medieval knights and castles, Pennsylvania rock art, and more.

Participants include Cambridge Public Schools, Chimaera Club, Dickinson University, Dig and Calliope magazines, Franklin Pierce Anthropology Club, Milwaukee Public Museum, Museum of Science-Boston, Penn Museum, Pennsylvania Archaeological Council, Philadelphia Museum of Art, Society for American Archaeology, Society for Pennsylvania Archaeology, St. Louis Community College, and Yale University: Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations.

Bring the family for a day of inter-generational and educational fun. Teachers — this is a great opportunity to get ideas and resources for bring archaeology into your classrooms.
